Full time farm job VT grapevine nursery (West Pawlet)

Northeastern Vine Supply, Inc. is New England’s only grapevine nursery, operating in western Rutland county since 2002. We are a small farm specializing in propagating and selling the highest quality cold hardy grapevines to commercial vineyards across the northern US. The nursery is our primary focus on this farm, but 10% of our total farm work (in the summer) is devoted to production and sales of certified organic melon through wholesale and farmers markets.

We are now hiring for a full time, year round position. A rough outline of our year is listed below:
-pruning vineyards
-cuttings production
-packing orders
-greenhouse prep
-shipping orders
-greenhouse work
-field prep
-field planting
-hand mowing
-brush mowing
-cover crop maintenance
-hand weeding
-fence building
-wood cutting
-fruit harvesting and delivery
-field cleanup
-pulling plastic
-bare root harvest
-grading bare root vines

Applicants must be prepared to work in all weather conditions and be able to lift 50lbs. Reliable transportation and a valid drivers license is required. Prior experience on farms, landscaping, or construction is preferred. Experience with small engines (mowers, chainsaws, etc.) required. At times of the year, our work is monotonous but always requires a great attention to detail. This includes working alone or as part of a small crew. Our focus on quality is at the forefront of our production model. We are looking for a minimum commitment of one year, with potential for longer term employment.
