Don’t wait until a drought to learn about the systems for pasture irrigation! Peter Miller, of Miller Farm, is one of the few dairies in Vermont to install a pasture irrigation system. Miller Farm is an organic dairy farm which currently milks 140 cows on 170 owned and 280 leased acres. The have installed an “Irripod Flexible Pasture Irrigation System” to help improve pasture productivity. Come for a discussion of what lead Miller to invest in irrigation, the different systems available, and the effects irrigation can have on your pasture’s productivity. Join NOFA-VT’s Dairy and Livestock Advisor, Willie Gibson, for a pasture walk and see the first chain of 4 irripods, which irrigate ¼ acre at a time, in action.
