Now reviewing applicants for dairy apprenticeship at Dorset Peak Jerseys in Danby, VT.
We are a family owned registered Jersey dairy farm with 80 mature cows and 60 heifers, farming 300 acres in a beautiful high valley in southern Rutland county. The cows make extreme milk components and have a very low cell count. Our farm has an opening for an apprentice.
The ideal applicant is someone looking for an intensive immersion in agriculture and animal husbandry, with enough experience to know they want to be dairy farming. Strong animal and mechanical skills are a plus.
The apprentice will be involved in all aspects of the farm, self motivation and critical thinking are required. We have much knowledge to share about both business and dairy herd management, and seek to provide a rewarding experience for the right person. Hours will be long, as dairying is about dedication.
Housing and utilities are included in a private apartment less than 1 mile from the barn, stipend commensurate with skills and experience.
Applicant must aspire to become cow person!
