Introducing Myself as New Farmer Initiative Project Coordinator

To the faithful What’s Growin’ On readers,

I’d like to introduce myself as RAFFL’s new New Farmer Initiative project coordinator. My name is Garland Mason, many of you may have known me in my former roles as a research associate at Green Mountain College or before that as an AmeriCorps VISTA working for GMC and RAFFL and coordinating RAFFL’s Grow-a-Row Program. I’m currently transitioning into my role with RAFFL and also starting my own small farm with my partner in West Tinmouth, VT.

I’m really excited to be leading the New Farmer Initiative and if you are a new (or newly established) farmer, or if you’re just exploring farming as a career path, please don’t hesitate to reach out! Let me know when you’re looking for land to lease or buy, exploring financing options, or even just looking for an internship or a “next step.” I’ll try to answer your questions or I will point you in the direction of someone who can.

As a new farmer myself, I’m looking forward to working with new, newly established, and aspiring farmers to help you meet (or establish) your goals!

I’m looking forward to working with you. Keep checking the blog for updates about events, resources, internships, land opportunities and all kinds of other useful information!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me by emailing garland@rutlandfarmandfood.org.

Sincerely,

Garland Mason
