Join RAFFL and NOFA-VT for our next summer workshop on Basic Cover Crop Strategies for Soil Health and Seed Production with a NOFAvore Social to follow. Andrew Knafel of Clear Brook Farm in Shaftsbury will discuss the successes and failures of various cover crops he has utilized over the years. The workshop will cover crop timing, selection, and planting methods. Andrew will also touch on growing rye seed and how easy it is to produce. Thanks to NOFA’s specialty crop block grant, this workshop is free!

Worried about dinner? Don’t be. After the workshop we’ll have to relax and chow down at the NOFAvore social. We’ll use harvested vegetables from the farm to create some farm-fresh pizzas starting at 6pm.

Directions to 47 Hidden Valley Road, Shaftsbury, VT: Clear Brook Farm is located on the corner of Rt. 7A and Hidden Valley Rd. in Shaftsbury. If coming from the north on Rt 7, get off at exit 3 (the Arlington exit) and follow 2 Mile Access Road to 7A. Head south on 7A about 4-5 miles. Clear Brook Farm is on the east side of 7A across from the “Chocolate Barn.” If coming from the south out of Bennington take Rt 7 get off at the exit 2 (the Shaftsbury exit). Head north on 7A for about 4-5 miles. Farm is on the east side of 7A 1/4 mile past the Serenity One Motel. Park on the grass across from the farm stand parking lot.
