Want to have a say in Produce Safety?

There is an opportunity for you to have a say in the direction of produce safety/GAPs training materials and give input to the FDA and USDA

The Produce Safety Alliance (PSA) is a collaborative project between Cornell University, United States Department of Agriculture, and the Food and Drug Administration. The overarching objective of this project is to provide the produce industry and associated groups (e.g., regulators, auditors, consumers, etc.) with training and educational opportunities related to current best practices and guidance, and future regulatory requirements by establishing the Produce Safety Alliance.

The PSA is asking for input from as wide a range of spectrum of stakeholders as possible – including growers and advocacy groups – if you would like to have a say  in what kind of educational materials and outreach are provided, in how growers and packers are informed of FDA regulations, and in how to access scientific and technical information on produce safety, and GAPs go to:

and sign up to be on one of the 10 Working Committees.  All working committee meetings will be held via conference call.

There also will be a meeting on June 29th and 30th, 2011 in Orlando Florida, that will be open to the public where stakeholders can share their perspectives and provide input on these issues.
