Internship: Holton Farms, Westminster VT

Holton Farms (Westminster, VT) is seeking interns for the 2011 growing season:

Located in idyllic southern VT, 200 acre diversified farm with organic
and conventional produce, including vegetables, fruits, herbs, maple
operations, beef cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys and soon to have
sheep. We have a large NYC CSA and focus on food justice in urban
communities.Projects will vary depending on timing of stay.

We are most interested in retaining long-term interns, so if you only
plan on staying a few weeks it won’t be a good fit for us (although we
might consider people on a case by case basis during peak harvest
July-September). Ideally, we would like someone who has a desire to
pursue a career in agriculture and is just looking for the right place
to hone their skills.

Expectations: dilligent, hard-working, some knowledge of agriculture,
greenhouse experience, experience with running CSA’s, farmstands,
farmers markets, love of animals, desire for a career in agriculture
are all plusses.

The Most help is needed from late April through October.

Housing is a large 6 bedroom home 5 miles from the farm. Will be
shared housing with our 10 male Jamaican workers, so must be okay with
shared living space, although females will have their own rooms. These

Amtrak and Greyhound have daily service to nearest town (5 miles out).
Will include free room, all free veggies you can eat, small weekly
stipend. Strong interest in sustainable, organic farming, urban
agriculture, animals, food policy, etc. preferred.
